MEGHAN'S MISSION
MISSION & HISTORY.
Meghan’s Mission, Inc is a non-profit corporation organized and dedicated to offer hope, optimism and reduced financial stress to community members dealing with a rigid and unthinkable cancer diagnosis.
December 22, 2015, the day our lives changed forever. This is the day that Meghan Rapp was diagnosed with Stage 4 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, an aggressive type of breast cancer that had spread into her lymph nodes, liver and bones. At the young age of 31, Meghan was faced with the battle of her life. The aggressiveness of the disease and the short time she was given to fight came as nothing short of a complete shock for Meghan and all of those close to her. Meghan was in an immense amount of pain from the cancer in her bones but never for a second complained about the fight ahead of her or ever questioned, “Why me?”
The oncologists explained to Meghan and her family that there were chemotherapy options for her, but the toolbox was limited due to the aggressiveness and type of her disease. Meghan fought the way we all knew she would. She handled the chemotherapy like a true champion, but there came a point in her journey where the cancer was relentless and began to attack her GI system. Meghan’s last wish was to leave the hospital and complete her journey on earth with her close family and friends in the comfort of her own home. Meghan joined Christ in heaven on July 2, 2016.
Meghan Rapp was a beautiful daughter, wife, sister and friend. She was a sports loving fanatic who had a way of bringing people together. She was the life of the party and the type of person who told it like it was. She was loved and respected by everyone that was lucky enough to know her. She would move mountains to make sure everyone close to her was happy and in a good place. She was one of the best listeners, great advice givers and had a heart of gold. Meghan had a way about her that is simply unexplainable.
Shortly after Meghan’s journey had ended, Abby DeBarge, Meghan’s sister, immediately felt a calling to help others fighting for their lives.. Mark and Janet Mushall, Meghan’s mother and step father, hosted a small golf outing in Northern Wisconsin with family and friends as a way to honor Meghan. The outpouring of love and support from everyone that was touched by Meghan continued to grow and expand. Abby DeBarge saw this as the perfect opportunity to bring light to a non-profit in honor of her beautiful sister and begin raising money to help others fighting a battle they never imagined. Meghan’s Mission was born on April 29, 2021. Meghan’s Mission currently has a current use fund set up with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Cancer Center.
